Meadow Croft Garden Centre is owned by W. D. Smith & Son, a large wholesale nursery business that has specialised in growing garden plants from seed for over sixty years. The company supplies garden centres all over south-east England.

The business was founded at Grange Nurseries in 1939 by Mr. William Smith. Since that time, the business has grown progressively, so that today we crop 8 acres (3.2 hectares) of glasshouses on three sites, including Meadow Croft Garden Centre.

Our annual production comprises several hundred thousand boxes of bedding plants and millions of pot grown plants, including geraniums, fuchsias, vegetable plants, shrubs and a wide range of basket plants.

Today, plant production is highly mechanised. Individual seeds are sown into modular plug trays, transplanted by robots and grown in computer-controlled glasshouses.

Grange Nurseries is strictly wholesale: all retail sales take place through Meadow Croft Garden Centre.
