We also offer an on-site 100-seater restaurant, which regularly features in the top 3 of local restaurants on TripAdvisor. Our restaurant is an integral part of Meadow Croft Garden Centre, which has recently been extended to include an attractive and relaxing alfresco eating area.

Part-time Chefs - 2 Vacancies

Working 3 or 4 days per week in our Restaurant

We are looking for two part-time Chefs to add to our growing team. 

Our Chefs care for our guests by creating fresh, seasonal food.  We have our core menu, of course, but our restaurant team like to be creative with seasonal fair, and you will be creating seasonal dishes for our daily specials board too.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a fast-moving team and working in a busy environment, someone who wants to continue the success of the restaurant by displaying the values of our team and by communicating with our guests and other team members brilliantly.

You will be passionate about creating great food and have an eye for detail. You'll be a  good communicator and a team player.

Duties will include:

Food preparation and cooking, with the ability to work on several items simultaneously.

Undertake and monitor food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates, ensuring correct portion control.

Ensuring that all food produced in the kitchen meets required quality standards.

Maintaining products and fixtures to keep them in pristine condition.

Cleaning the kitchen, including washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.

General kitchen duties, including washing up.

Maintaining an understanding and knowledge of health and hygiene practices, equipment, product and menus.

Receiving and processing deliveries.

To support colleagues at peak times and to undertake any operational duty which might be reasonably required, to ensure customer expectations are met.

About Meadow Croft Restaurant

Meadow Croft Restaurant is open from 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Saturday and from 10.00 – 4.00pm on Sunday.

Our buzzwords are fresh and homemade!  We use fresh, local ingredients to create wholesome meals.  Everything is cooked to order and we use the best local ingredient suppliers we can find, from Paddy & Scott’s coffee, Tiptree jams & Tiptree Patisserie cakes, to locally-sourced English breakfast sausages.  We also make a lot of cakes on-site.  In fact, we make almost 7000 scones each year!  Our menu also includes a daily seasonal breakfast and lunch specials board.

Our 90 seater air-conditioned restaurant is a vibrant hub in the centre of a family-owned and run garden centre which attracts thousands of visitors each year.  Guests can also enjoy their meals or snacks on our covered terrace, which also boasts heaters and blankets in the cooler months.

Fancy yourself as a bit of an entertainer?  Great with kids? Maybe you are a drama student or love the idea of getting paid to be, well, a bit silly?  Then this is the job for you!

You don't need to be a BAFTA winner to join our team, you just need to enjoy having fun and be able to think on your feet!

We are looking for out-going individuals to join our team on a casual, part-time basis to help run our hugely popular children’s events.  These events are largely run in the school holidays and during the festive period.  As part of the team, you will help plan and run the events with up to 30 children at a time.  Our team consists of several members who all play their part in making our activities loads of fun!  If you are bubbly, out-going and enjoy dressing up, then this is definitely for you!  Maybe you are a drama student looking to make the most of your skills, or perhaps you have experience of working with children.  Experience isn’t necessary, but a willingness to enjoy yourself and act a bit silly every now and then is!
