Donating a tree in memory of Her Majesty

Posted: 3 Nov 2022

Following the wishes of His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As the winner of our School's in Bloom competition, we contacted Hilltop Infant School to see if they'd like to accept our donation of a tree, and get the children involved with planting it in the school grounds in remembrance of Her Majesty.

"We are so pleased that we could celebrate Her Majesty's reign and the children enjoyed being outside learning about how to plant the tree, look after it and how it will change throughout the seasons." said Meadow Croft Garden Centre's Marketing Coordinator. "It's important to us to have a strong connection with our local community and this just felt like the perfect opportunity to give back to one of our local schools. We look forward to seeing how the tree blossoms over the years to come"

Hilltop Infant School now have a beautiful Victoria Plum Tree in their field with a special plaque to remember the year it was planted.

The tree has been added to the Queen's Green Canopy website and currently awaiting approval.
