W.D. Smith & Son is one of the leading growers of container bedding and vegetable plants in the UK.  We are a family-run business and have been growing plants for over 75 years. We grow and deliver thousands of plants every year to Garden Centres & horticultural businesses around the South East of England.

We are approaching our busiest time of year and require a

SEASONAL HGV CLASS 2 DELIVERY DRIVER

£14/hr + O/T

To provide seasonal cover driving our own vehicles delivering plants throughout the Southeast, typically completing 6 to 8 deliveries a day dependent on distance. 

Based at our nursery near Wickford in Essex.

This is a reasonably manual job delivering plants on trolleys. Working as part of a team you should be flexible and happy to make early morning starts. We will consider drivers who may be available for certain days of the week or only available part time.

With a beautiful weekend forecasted we asked the plant team to pick their favourite plant available right now, they felt it was like being asked to choose their favourite child…..but they did anyway!
Louise chose a hardy gerbera (but snuck in a Bella fuchsia as well when I wasn’t looking), Lorna chose a beautiful Lilac. Tam is obviously staying in with her amazing three stemmed orchid. Kaye, went for 2 hydrangeas and Elaine went big with her cercis tree.
They all look wonderful, and the plants don’t look bad either.
A quick update on The 10th Hole ⛳️⁠

It'll now only open on weekends, bank holidays and school holidays so that we can offer even more fun, excitement, and quality drinks & snacks for you and your friends or family. The mini golf course will remain open as usual.⁠
