Gardening Jobs for December

Here are the best gardening jobs to get done before Christmas & New Year! 

• Pick sloes if there are any left in the hedgerows for sloe gin. 

• Take off brown & yellow leaves from vegetable plants to reduce the risk of fungal disease. 

• Continue to fill the compost bin with fallen leaves and twigs. 

• Clean and sharpen pruning tools. 

• Come to your favourite garden centre and choose your seeds for the new year. 

• Find a south facing windowsill for flowering houseplants, giving them as much light as possible. 

• Protect plants that are prone to winter damage, in extreme cold conditions with fleece.  

• Cancel your gym membership for a week, and dig over the veg patch!
